The New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) is the state agency that supports people with developmental disabilities to live as independently as possible.

Chemlu’s Role

How We Help

Chemlu is an OPWDD‑approved provider agency. We deliver a range of waiver services in homes and centers. Our focus is on helping individuals build skills, participate in their communities, and live fulfilling lives.

Skill Development

We help individuals build everyday abilities and grow more independent.

Community

We encourage active participation, connection, and belonging in the community.

Services We Provide

Our OPWDD Services

Community Habilitation (ComHab)

Staff support individuals to learn skills in their home or community, like cooking, shopping, social skills, or travel training.

Day Habilitation (Day Hab)

Group‑based programs where individuals work on goals, socialize, and engage in community activities during the day.

Respite

Short‑term relief for families by providing care for the individual at home or in the community.

Pre-Vocational Services (PreVoc)

Helping individuals develop work readiness skills, either in a center or in real volunteer/job settings, preparing them for competitive employment.
